Metalsmithing for Jewelry

Jay McCormick will lead this metalsmithing workshop! Come and learn how to work with metal including torching, polishing, stamping, and soldering. The class fee includes expert instruction, copper, all the materials needed to make your art piece, and tools provided by CCC’s Skilled Trades program as well as a grant from the Flagstaff Community Foundation.

Jay McCormick has always enjoyed working with his hands. As an artist, he began working with leather and then transitioned into metalworking for jewelry. For the past 45 years he has been silversmithing using his unique geometric and nature-inspired stamping patterns on rings, bracelets, belt buckles, and many other metal art pieces. A resident of northern Arizona for over 50 years, Jay is excited about the opportunity to lead this community workshop.

The class meets on three Saturdays: Oct. 14, 21, 28, from 12 to 2:45 p.m.
