Fort Valley Forest Research Station
Join historian Susan Olberding as she explores the history of the Fort Valley Research Station.
On a peaceful spot near Flagstaff is the nations’ first USFS research station first established in 1908 when the Riordans asked USFS Chief Gifford Pinchot to learn why ponderosa pine was not regenerating after logging. This presentation explains the history that set the groundwork for USFS research around the country.
