A documentary about two different searches conducted in the Chilean Atacama Desert: one by astronomers looking for answers about the history of the cosmos, and one by women looking for the remains of loved ones killed by Pinochet’s regime.
Nostalgia for the Light, made by the masterful Chilean documentarian Patricio Guzmán, explores connections between the studies of the origins of the universe made by astronomers in the arid Atacama desert of Northern Chile, and the tireless work of families trying to find the remains of their disappeared loved ones, murdered by the Pinochet dictatorship and buried in secret graves.
