A collegiate athlete turned burgeoning hip-hop star, Kalan’s musical triumph in his young career is the result of his exceptional skill to channel emotions into his work. Five years removed from being busted for robbery, the Los Angeles native — born Kalan Montgomery — has become a premier force within L.A.’s thriving music scene. “If this wasn’t my job, I would still make music because this is how I deal with life,” Kalan says. “This is just how I view the world.” To close out his breakout year, the West Coast artist went on a nationwide “TwoFr 2” tour before his final two-day, sold-out nights in Los Angeles, which featured a star-studded lineup like Blxst, 1TakeJay, Mario, Rubi Rose, 808 Mafia, and more. That same year, Kalan performed at festivals like Day N Vegas, Rolling Loud LA plus at the Los Angeles Clippers season opener, L.A. Rams Halftime, and USC Men’s Basketball Games.
