Hip Hop is more than mere rap music. It is a way of life, culture and expression. It is complex, yet accessible. Its chief components may be categorized into five different elements:
- DJing
- MCing
- BBoy/Girling
- Graf
- Knowledge of Self
The contemplated week will showcase each of the five elements both singularly and collectively. This way, NAU students will become adequately exposed to the nuances of Hip Hop not readily apparent in music videos and Top 40 playlists.
