The Flagstaff Arts Council presents a weekly Figure Drawing Workshop led by Shawn Skabelund beginning Monday, March 11, 2019! This Intermediate level workshop consists of 7 three-hour sessions drawing from a live model.
Nothing can be more enjoyable, yet at the same time more demanding, than drawing from the figure. It takes total concentration and can be very taxing by the time a particular session comes to a close, but as one concentrates, one wonders where the time has gone by.
In this Intermediate course, students will create three complete compositional figure drawings by using a variety and combination of materials and mediums. Using the figure shape as a compositional device, students will be given three specific assignments to work out, for three, six hour long finished drawings.
The sessions will be held in the gallery at the Coconino Center for the Arts on Monday evenings, 6-9pm.
This is an opportunity to study and receive personal instruction in figure drawing from award-winning artist, Shawn Skabelund. Shawn holds degrees from Utah State University and the University of Iowa. A nationally exhibited artist, his work has been featured in Sculpture Magazine and numerous regional publications. Shawn is also a Viola Visual Arts award winner for his exhibition Virga: The Hunt for Water.
NOTE: This course is for those who have completed Beginner Figure Drawing with Shawn Skabelund or another instructor
