Color Theory by Talaina Kor

at Coconino Center for the Arts

Color Study is a solo photography exhibition by Flagstaff artist Talaina Kor. This exhibition features a series of 18 photographs that are the result of a study the artist conducted for the past two years and was first inspired by the work of photographer Phillip Lorca-DiCorcia’s. She became captivated by his use of lighting and color, and so began the exploration of this photographic element in her own work.

Talaina Kor uses photography and editing techniques to create surreal and often macabre pieces of art. Kor has gained experience through her studies at the California College of the Arts and School of the Art Institute of Chicago as well as several solo and group shows. She now resides in Arizona.

Artist Statement

This series is a study of color and the enigmatic feelings they can promote in a piece. Although each piece is very different, they make a cohesive whole with the style of highly saturated colors and surreal themes.
