It’s Elemental celebrates the talent and creativity of Arizona’s craftspeople by showcasing fine craft work that demonstrates a command of the medium and a high level of workmanship and design. The annual exhibition, hosted at the Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff, serves as a perfect lead up to the holiday season. The exhibition opens in mid-November and remains open through just before Christmas.
It’s Elemental, one of the most popular recurring exhibitions in Northern Arizona, dates back in Flagstaff for over 30 years. The exhibition has its roots in the earliest history of the Coconino Center for the Arts. When the Center opened in 1984, the exhibition was titled, “Wood, Fiber, Clay.” The Center closed in the late 1990′s, but when it reopened in 2001, the exhibition returned with its current name and concept.
The exhibition will include art created from clay, wood, fiber/paper, metal, and glass. Submitted pieces can be functional or nonfunctional. Participating artists all currently reside in the state of Arizona. Juror prizes will be given out with cash awards of $1,500.
