Video Production Workshop

Video Production Workshop

Presented by Coconino Center for the Arts at Coconino Center for the Arts

The Arts Council is pleased to present the Video Production workshop, as part of the ArtBox Institute. In this half-day workshop, local videographer, Nick Geib, will demonstrate to students the dynamics of shooting and editing video footage and will present the importance of using video to promote artists and their artwork.

This course will cover the basics of filmmaking to improve self-produced work and to know what to ask for when hiring a videographer. The focus will be on maximizing production value with limited equipment and budget. We will go over the fundamentals of cinematography (framing, composition, lighting, movement), editing (storytelling, music selection, transitions, text) and audio (recording and mixing sound). There will be a hands-on component where we look at different setups and compare the outcomes as well as a lecture and discussion with relevant examples.

Nicholas Geib is a Flagstaff based Filmmaker working as Firewatch Films to tell the stories of the Southwest. He previously ran 4FlagTV where he produced hundreds of short videos about Northern Arizona, worked for five years in Los Angeles on big-budget advertisements and has a BFA in film production from the University of Arizona.

The workshop is intended for artists, staff, Board, and volunteers from non-profit and for profit organizations in any sector. Pricing is $20 for Arts Council Members / $25 General, please register in advance to secure your spot.
