Greenhouse Productions and Flagstaff Arts Council are pleased to present George Winston in concert. The show will take place at the Coconino Center for the Arts on Friday, February 2, 2018. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show begins at 7:30 pm.

George Winston is an celebrated American solo pianist hailing from Montana. He began playing acoustic piano in the early 1970’s and has been growing as a musician ever since, with over 10 solo piano albums. Winston draws on the inspiration of R&B, jazz, blues, rock and stride piano to create his unique sound. He has even created his own style of instrumental music called folk piano. In recent years, Winston has been focusing on touring and playing live concerts. Along with playing solo piano concerts, he has also been known for solo guitar, harmonica and solo piano dances.

George Winston’s new cancer research benefit album, Spring Carousel, debuts at #1 on Billboard’s Jazz Chart(http://www.billboard.com/charts/jazz-albums). Spring Carousel features a collection of 15 solo piano compositions written by Winston while in recovery from a bone marrow transplant for Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) at City of Hope, in Duarte, California, near Los Angeles. Released by RCA Records on March 31, 2017, Spring Carousel directly benefits cancer research at City of Hope.

Spring Carousel is the culmination of works composed at City of Hope during early 2013. From 59 recorded songs, 15 select works are now showcased on Winston’s latest solo piano album. As with his previous recordings, including seven Platinum selling albums (Autumn, December, Forest, Summer, Winter Into Spring, Linus & Lucy – The Music of Vince Guaraldi, and Plains), Winston’s studio recordings are all experienced-based. His season-themed albums come mainly from his childhood experience in Montana of the drastic difference in the seasons. And his releases Montana – A Love Story, as well as Forest and Plains, come primarily from his sense of the different topographies in Montana. Spring Carousel’s setting is City of Hope, where Winston was given a second chance at life.

Doors open at 6:30 pm and the concert begins at 7:30 pm at the Coconino Center for the Arts located at 2300 N. Fort Valley Rd. Tickets range from $45 to $65 depending on seating locations. Tickets will be available for purchase on Friday, October 28, 2016 and can be purchased online at flagartscouncil.org or in person at Arizona Music Pro in downtown Flagstaff.
