On Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 pm, 18 November, 2018, author Gwendolyn Waring will be talking about and reading from her new book on the natural history of the San Francisco Peaks, our mountain, at Brightside Books in downtown Flagstaff.
Gwendolyn Waring just published a book on the natural history of the San Francisco Peaks, our mountain. It is a thorough accounting of the origin of the region around the Peaks, the formation of the Peaks through multiple eruptions over several million years, the Pleistocene impacts on the mountain and region--including at least 3 glacial phases, and of course all the amazing plants and animals and fungi that made their way to this isolated mountain island, and managed to stay.
