NAU Wind Symphony Concert: “Stravinsky and Friends”

This concert features School of Music faculty member, Rita Borden, performing the Stravinsky Concerto for Piano and Wind Instruments. The piano takes on a virtuoso concertante role in the Concerto, partnering with an equally important wind ensemble with no strings other than double basses.

Besides the Concerto, other music on the concert includes La Procession Du Rocio composed by Joaquín Turina who was born in 1882, the same year as Stravinsky and The Gadfly Suite by Dmitri Shostakovich who was heavily influenced by the neo-classical style pioneered by Igor Stravinsky. School of Music faculty member, Dr. Louise Scott will be featured in the famous “Romance” movement of the Suite.

The Wind Symphony is the premier wind performing group at Northern Arizona University      and includes the most outstanding woodwind, brass, and percussion students in the School       of Music.

Parking: 
No permit is required Friday after 4:30 p.m. through Sunday in lots P13, P3 and P8.
Film Series parking designation:
CAL Film Series and International Film Series parking passes must be printed and exhibited for each film. Create a guest account and register with NAU Parking.
Community parking designation:
To see if your event has a community parking designation, go to the CAL events website. Community members can register for a community parking pass at NAU Parking.
Complimentary parking designation:
Complimentary parking without permit is available for Ashurst Hall Horizons concerts and NAU Art Museum receptions in lots P3 (behind Gammage), P8 (north of the College of Education on Knoles Dr.), and P4 (ADA stalls near Ashurst – must have hangtag).
