Greg is a well-known performer in the Phoenix area, as well as at many music festivals, such as Prescott, Glendale, and most recently, the Flagstaff Folk Festival, along with many other venues throughout Arizona.
Greg grew up on the Chicago south-side (he knew bad Leroy Brown), and began his music career in the mid 1960’s, performing with blues and rock groups. He then formed one of Chicago’s first country rock bands. Though the band was critically acclaimed, in 1969, he decided to embark on a solo career, and became part of the Chicago folk music scene. Longing to live in the west, he left for Arizona in 1976 and immersed himself, and his music, in the western lifestyle, history and heritage. Greg is also an avid horseman and outdoorsman, and along with his trusty quarter horse “Bob,” he has ridden and explored many of Arizona’s historic trails and locations.
Greg’s repertoire consists of ballads and tall tales of the old west, railroads, and of his native Chicago. As with many of the early railroad, cowboy and western songs which have evolved out of music brought by immigrant Irish ranch hands and railroad workers, much of Greg’s country and railroad selections take on a distinctive Irish quality that we know you will enjoy.
