The Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff, in conjunction with the City of Flagstaff and the Hozhoni Foundation, are proud to present the 12th Annual Recycled Art Exhibition featuring art created with recycled materials. Local artists from all over Coconino County, Sedona, and the Native American Reservations, along with students of all ages come together to promote recycling through this creative, fun, and inspiring exhibition. A free opening reception will be held on April 26, 6:00-9:00pm. Bring the entire family for an evening of art, entertainment, and food!
The Recycled Art show is organized this year through a partnership with the Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff, the City of Flagstaff, and our newest partner, the Hozhoni Foundation. All artwork in the show must contain at least 80% recycled or reused materials. The possibilities are endless and the exhibition celebrates the creativity of the artists and community of greater Coconino County. The purpose of the exhibition is to encourage the reuse of a variety of materials in new, different, and creative forms and to promote recycling and resource conservation. Artist entry forms are available for direct downloaded at:
http://flagstaff-arts.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/RAE-call-for-entries-2014.pdf. The postmark deadline for entries is April 1, 2014.
During the reception, many artists will be in attendance to discuss their creations in a one-on-one setting. Awards will be presented at the reception to artwork entries in the exhibition for Most Creative, Most Humorous, Most Useful, Best Use of Material, Elegance, Simplicity, and Best of Show. A People’s Choice award will be announced at the close of the exhibition. All visitors to the exhibition will have a chance to vote for the People’s Choice award.
Artists will offer workshops and demonstrations to the public on creating recycled works each Saturday throughout the run of the exhibition. These will take place on May 3, 10, 17, and 24. A full list of workshops will be posted soon on flagstaff-arts.org.
The exhibition will run from April 26 – May 24, 2014 at the HOZHONI ART GALLERY AND GARDENS located at 2133 N. Walgreen St., Flagstaff. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00am-4:00pm. For more information, visit flagstaff-arts.org or call (928)522-6969 or (928)526-7944.
